Recyclable by 2025 - But What Are You Doing in 2020?

By the time you finish reading this sentence, someone you work for, work with or want to work with will have said, read, or thought the phrase “recyclable by 2025.” Not a day goes by that flexible packaging doesn’t feel the impact of this manufacturing mandate and we’re all stretching to reach what seems like an unattainable goal. Reusable packaging requires generous consumer education and recyclable packaging requires everything from partially to completely recyclable materials to consumer education to appropriate infrastructure. But wasn’t the phrase, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle?” Have we exhausted every opportunity for reducing packaging, food waste, our carbon footprint, etc? While we wait for the steep investments into recyclable packaging to turn into concrete, present day solutions, Sealstrip has an easy to implement answer to “How can I reduce x, y, z…and still save have more than enough room in the budget for the future innovations of green packaging?”
