Machinist- Full Time

Description: Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager through the Shop Supervisor; operating machines that perform a variety of processing operations. A machinist is familiar with and can perform a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures in the machine fabrication field and performs a variety of tasks. 

Responsibilities:

• Fabricate steel, aluminum, and plastic parts utilizing various shop equipment
• Read and be able to understand prints designed by engineers
• Follow BOM for machines and make corrections
• Assemble machines from assembly drawings when needed
• Glass – bead and polish parts in preparation for appropriate coating
• Paint parts with spray paint when needed
• Troubleshoot and repair department production machinery
• Perform preventative maintenance on production machinery
• Keep work areas clean and tidy to prevent safety hazards
• Occasional travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, repairing, installation, or preventative maintenance of Sealstrip machines
• Assist in building maintenance when needed
• Fabricate crates and boxes and prepare machines for shipping
• Additional in-house duties as needed

Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills
• Able to lift up to fifty pounds
• Able to use the following machinery: drill press, manual lathe, belt sander, manual vertical mill, CNC mill, band saw, disk sander, hydraulic press, aluminum chop saw, abrasive cutoff, glass beader, and hand tools
• Able to use precision measuring equipment
• Able to read and understand CAD/SolidWorks drawings
• Experience fabricating with aluminum and stainless steel
• At least two years experience as a machinist or tool maker
• Must meet the physical requirements of the job according to the attached Job Evaluation
